The mission of the Black Student Union is to nurture the development of University of Washington, Tacoma students through education, community service, campus involvement, and professional development. We aim to offer a sense of community and unity for Black students on campus by providing an open and positive forum for students to express their views concerning current events, academics, culture, and student life.

All regularly enrolled students (a regularly enrolled student shall be defined as any student registered and in good standing) of the University of Washington, Tacoma whom have paid supporting fees established by the Board of Regents, shall be members of the association. Active members are members who attend 2 general meetings and 1 event per quarter. Only members ofthe BSU shall be entitled to vote in any Association election, to represent the Association, or to hold any office controlled by the Association. A copy of the BSU Constitution must be distributed within one week of a member's request. BSU general membership is responsible for maintaining good attendance at all general membership meetings, keeping membership active at all sponsored events, and adhering to the BSU Constitution and Bylaws.

Everyone who uses the Makerspace MUST read and sign the Makerspace User Agreement. Use of the Makerspace is a privilege and not a right. Use of the Makerspace is contingent on following the code of conduct outlined in the User Agreement. In order to create an open and welcoming space for all folks, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, or other factors, the Makerspace takes a zero tolerance approach to discrimination. Psychological & Wellness Services (PAWS) provides free and confidential intentional, problem-focused mental health counseling, aimed at building better skills and exploring alternative ways of coping through crisis, individual, and group counseling; educational workshops and classroom presentations; consultation for students, faculty, staff, and student families; and referrals (when appropriate) to community mental health and social service providers and other UWT student services and resources.

Student Health is a one-stop-shop that aims to empower students to make informed decisions about their health and well-being through evidence-based health promotion, education, and prevention strategies. Student Health provides health services and resources to UWT students at no cost, such as Student Health Services with TimelyCare; Confidential Victim's Advocacy; skills-based health education, training, and workshops; harm reduction supplies such as safer sex supplies and NARCAN; and support with meeting the Tri-Campus Immunization Requirement.

The Sustainability Leadership Certificate (SLC) will offer a non-academic certificate option that all students at UW Tacoma may choose to complete during their academic career. The University YMCA Student Center (UWY) is UW Tacoma's student recreation center. It is a fully operational YMCA, with recreation and fitness spaces, an NCAA regulation basketball court, cardio and weights equipment, indoor track, personal training, and locker rooms. Beyond the recreation center, the UWY serves as a social space for students too. Home to the Center for Student Involvement and student government, campus meeting and event spaces, and a game room, the UWY is a hub of student life at UW Tacoma.
